By participating in community-driven actions, students—especially those from privileged backgrounds—can gain real-world insight into inequality, empathy, and the power of collective action.
Friends of Fizi Kabiria is a Community-Based Organization committed to improving the lives of 150 underprivileged children at Fizi School in Kabiria, Nairobi, Kenya. We support not only the students but also their families—particularly single mothers and unemployed parents—by addressing the pressing challenges in this underserved community in Dagoretti South.
In 2023, Talent Connect launched a new development and fundraising strategy to strengthen our support for Fizzie School Caribia in Nairobi.
We began by training a dedicated team of new staff and volunteers who share our passion for social impact. With their commitment, we successfully implemented critical infrastructure improvements — including the construction of toilets, classrooms, playgrounds, and more — creating a safer and more enriching environment for our students.
We also expanded our outreach by collaborating with embassies and consulates from across the globe through charity events in Kenya. These partnerships have been instrumental in raising the necessary funds to sustain our mission.
Thanks to these efforts:
The school continues to operate smoothly

We distribute clothing and hygiene supplies monthly to all students and their households
Our NGO-style project management has allowed us to mobilize and manage financial resources effectively, ensuring that education, health, and dignity remain accessible to the most vulnerable communities we serve.

Fizi School was founded in 2014 by Congolese refugees to provide displaced and vulnerable children with access to education. The school now serves students aged 3 to 11, offering a safe and nurturing environment in difficult living conditions. Without outside support, many of these children would lack both education and proper nutrition.
We invite schools to join our initiative:
After the school break, students and families are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items. These donations will help build a community food reserve to ensure Fizi School students receive nutritious meals throughout the school year.
This simple yet powerful act not only supports the children of Fizi School but also helps participating students develop a sense of global responsibility and solidarity.
Step 1: Your school expresses interest in organizing a food drive.
Step 2: We propose a themed donation drive based on Fizi School’s current needs.
Step 3: We provide all necessary materials to help launch the initiative.
Step 4: Your school promotes the campaign and collects donations.
Step 5: Donations are stored safely at the school.
Step 6: Friends of Fizi volunteers collect and deliver the donations to Fizi School.
Step 7: Your school receives a certificate of recognition and impact updates as a token of appreciation.
Sweet Breakfast: Girls bring liquid milk, boys bring sugar – used for porridge or tea.
Lunch of Champions: Boys bring rice, girls bring ugali flour – essential daily staples.
Healthy Bites: Girls bring beans, boys bring green grams – rich in protein and essential for growing children.
This initiative is more than just a food drive. It’s a lesson in empathy, global citizenship, and shared humanity.
